Easily brew ridiculously good coffee at home. A dual chamber “twist” on a traditional French press. Big bold taste, no gunk.

I’m Jake. A few things you should know about me before we take this relationship to the next level:
I adore coffee (clearly, because what says “I love coffee” more than pouring hot bean juice on your face). I also happen to know a thing or two about coffee from my previous career as a Brand Manager at Caribou Coffee. I have been brewing coffee at home for years. For home brew I go back and forth between a French press and a pour-over. Both can make a great cup of joe, but each have their respective drawbacks. The French press is great because the coffee grounds get to hang out with the hot water for a few minutes (a full immersion allows for a robust extraction), but the single filter leaves a lot of coffee gunk in your cup…or mouth. The pour-over produces a crisp cup, but it’s a very manual and tedious process. If you don’t know what you’re doing you’ll end up with under-extracted coffee…brown water, not black gold.
This project started with a simple question: Can we design a product that incorporates the best features of both a French press and a pour-over? Can we design a product that makes it easy to brew ridiculously good coffee at home?
To clarify for the people following along at home:
Easy to use, easy to clean, easy to love. Basically, you don’t have to be a skilled barista to make this sucker sing.
Ridiculously Good means a big full-bodied cup of coffee without any sludge. The power of a French press with the crispness of a pour-over. Oh, and complete control over the extraction time would be nice.
Eight months and over 50 prototypes later we are at a place where we can honestly answer our initial question with a confident YES!
